Dear St. Martin of Tours Parishioners,
I am very pleased to announce the second winner of the annual Tim Haber, Jr. Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship, a one-time gift of $2,000 of tuition assistance for a graduating 8th grader who is to enter a Catholic High School, is meant to honor and perpetuate the Memory of St. Martin of Tours parishioner and student Tim Haber, Jr. who, in his brief but good life, exemplified all the characteristics of a young Catholic gentleman and a man of faith.
We are pleased to announce that this year’s award goes to Owen Zmuda. Our selection of this one individual out of a field of great candidates was a very difficult one, yet we chose Owen because of his clear love for his Catholic Faith. You will often see Owen serving at 10 a.m. Sunday Mass. Owen has chosen to attend Bishop DuBourg High School in the Fall.
It is the hope of our scholarship committee, of St. Martin of Tours Parish, of Tim and Margaret Haber, and of myself personally, that Owen will continue to strive for excellence in all he does; that he will continue to demonstrate to others the charity of Christ; and that he will grow in love of Jesus Christ every day as he grows into adulthood.
We wish to thank so many of you who in the past have donated to the Tim Haber, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Endowment, or who have contributed directly to make this yearly award possible. We are blessed by your generosity.
Congratulations, Owen! We are very proud of you and happy for you! Continue to strive to imitate Christ in all you do.
Sincerely,
Tim Haber, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Committee
