A TRUE SHAGGY DOG STORY

In October 1995, Pope St. John Paul II was making one of his seven pastoral visits to the USA, which included a stop in Baltimore, where he also met with seminarians.

Before his meeting, the pope wanted to pray in the seminary chapel. The security detail wanted to make sure no one was hiding in there, so to be sure it was safe, they released their sniffing dogs into the chapel.

Immediately, the dogs began barking and whining to indicate someone was in the chapel, even though the dog handlers couldn’t see anyone.

When the security and handlers went to see where the dogs were barking, they found them gathered around the Tabernacle, barking at it, pawing at it, and whining to their masters. The dogs wanted to see Who it was who was hiding inside the little golden box.
