Dear Humans,

There is a verse from one of your hymns that always sends a dread shudder down my tail. It is this:

Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Bears all it's Sons away;
They fly forgotton, as a dream
Dies at the opening day.

Yet a creature, though it must live in time, ought not allow itself to be so immersed in time's stream that it lose itself in self-determinancy!

Jesus, God-in-time, knew this from His own experience. So here are some words of Jesus that console me. Matthew 11:28:

Come to me, all
You who are weary,
And burdened,
And I will refresh you.

When Jesus rested He prayed to His Father. He spent time with His Mother and with Saint Joseph. I am certain He shared moments of joy and love with His relatives and friends, too.

Jesus took time to reflect on His past and to consider how best to approach His future. Daddy told me that he is doing that, because he wants to be the best priest he can be, for all of you, and also for his students at Maryville. So Daddy (and I) will be away for two weeks.

He'll be here for weekend Masses, but on weekdays he'll be resting on the shores of existence...

with God and dog.
